Past President – Bill Smith #7126 Life

PAST PRESIDENT NCBBA

After both working over 30 years in insurance claims, my wife, Pam, and I retired to Buxton, North Carolina. We enjoyed ten wonderful years on Hatteras Island before moving to Homosassa, Florida in November of 2021.

Pam and I have been coming to the Outer Banks for over 28 years and knew this is where we wanted to one day to be. Our children grew up developing a love for this area during trips to these beaches. We enjoyed all the area had to offer: the sense of community, the history, the peaceful, natural environment and of course chasing the fish up and down the beaches.

We moved to Florida for a variety of reasons but Hatteras Island and the Outer Banks will always be a special place to us both.

When not fishing, interests include the guitar and writing songs, many genres of music, refurbishing old fishing reels, gardening and kayaking. As a member of NCBBA since 1993, the issue of beach access has always been an issue where we have stayed actively involved.

The opportunity with the NCBBA had always been a goal before moving to Hatteras Island. Having that opportunity over the past ten years has been a rewarding experience, as well as providing a chance to serve the community, make new friends and work alongside the outstanding individuals who make up the NCBBA Board of Directors.
