Bill King

Bill's background is centered in Public Safety/Service. He is a veteran law enforcement retiree having attained the rank of Commander of Field Operations in a 50 officer mid-level Mid-Atlantic Police Department. HIs  responsibilitiies varied but under his supervision and direction were Investigative Services and Uniform Patrol Operations. He had the pleasure of working with many fine officers in this capacity for 5 years. He retired in 2005 enjoying a thirty year police career. Intertwined in these years were many community and civic groups and organizations. He held many officer and board positions to include chairman of many of these groups. He belongs to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, National Narcotics Officers Association, the Virginia State Crime Clinic, VALID, Vice Chairman - Round Table Conference on Organized Crime, Fort Lee BRAC committee, Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, volunteer fire department to include fire chief for 5 years, volunteer rescue squad, Chairman CASA board, Walk Against Drugs Committee, Safe School Committee, Ruritan International, President of Center for Industrial Preservation of Historic Petersburg, Virginia, church board chairman and organizer of a performing Southern Gospel Music Singing Group.

He feels his greatest accomplishments are his children Jason and Ashley and a marriage spanning some 38 years - from 1976 to present with the same woman who is still his drinking and sometimes fishing Buddy.

He first came to the outer banks some 50 years ago with his parents, and they date back some 60 years. They made the Tower Circle Motel in Buxton their home away home and he now stays there since its renovation. He and his family have made Hatteras Island their vacation destination for many years and his kids now regard OBX as their place in the sun. He has been a member of NCBBA since 1981 and will continue to support its mission, and hope that you will as well. “KEEP THOSE BEACHES OPEN!”
